Abarth Pays Homage to Its Icon With The New $40K USD 695 Tributo 131 Rally

The automotive community adores a pocket rocket, and it also adores a well-considered homage, like this Abarth 695 Tributo 131 Rally, which pays homage to the Abarth 131 Rally, which turns 40 this year.

This car is also a very rare piece of automotive history, with only 695 units produced globally. It comes in a bicolor three-layer glossy “Blue Rally” color, reminiscent of the color that made the original 131 Rally so popular in the 1980s, and because it’s an Abarth car, a lot of effort has gone into transforming it from a Fiat 500 to the mini hot hatch that it is.

The 1.4 T-jet engine, for example, produces 180 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque at 3,000 RPM, allowing the car to reach 62 mph in 6.7 seconds before reaching its top speed of 140 mph. While these numbers aren’t as impressive as those of hot hatchbacks, it’s more about the attitude and feeling the car conveys and makes you feel as you drive down back roads.

The car is equipped with Koni FSD shock absorbers on both axles and Brembo brake calipers in the front and rear, as well as a Record Monza Sovrapposto exhaust system with four pipes. The silhouette of the original 131 Rally is engraved on the lower part of the car door, on the Alcantara dashboard, and on the headrests of the Sabelt seats, among other “easter eggs.”

The Abarth 695 Tributo 131 Rally retails for £32,325 GBP (approx. $40,000 USD) and will hit the asphalt this summer.
