Adidas Originals Brings Back the ZX 8000 and 9000 In Two Classic Colorways

The Three Stripes continues to offer in-house goods that further its ’80s and ’90s aesthetic, such as the return of the ZX 8000 and ZX 9000, following the recently unveiled closer look at its future nostalgia-filled collaboration with Gucci.

The ZX 8000 “Germany” and ZX 9000 “Citrus” are two of the most popular hues for their respective models, and now they are coming back.

Starting with the ZX 8000, a palette of “Bright Yellow/Core Black/Red” is applied to a textile, mesh, and suede composition that pays homage to a fan-favorite colorway from 1998.

The hefty classic shapes of the ZX 8000 are highlighted in vivid and vibrant colors here, with the yellow nearly metallic gold working the synthetic ribbed uppers. The Torsion bar, a yellow sole unit, Trefoil branding all throughout, a distinctive heel counter, and more are all still present.

The ZX 9000 in “Pulse Yellow/Ash Silver/Acid Mint” is a famous colorway as well. The archival grail for ZX enthusiasts comes back this time with glow-in-the-dark accents, particularly on the heel counter and TPU eyelet.

Retro branding is blended with distinctive tooling for a realistic appearance and feel, while a dashing splash of purple adds even more vibrancy.

adidas Originals is set to drop these via its CONFIRMED app on May 13 at 9 a.m. BST (4 a.m. EST). The ZX 8000 costs £90 GBP, while the ZX 9000 comes in at £100 GBP (approx. $111 USD — $123 USD).
