Ahead of Its Global Release, adidas x Gucci Release Their Own ’80s Fitness Catalog

Gucci x adidas is almost here. The collaboration has now been formally displayed in a Carlijn Jacobs-shot lookbook, three months after its first luxury house’s Fall 2022 catwalk show.

Alessandro Michele designed the collection, and the lookbook is no exception. Michele drew inspiration from archival catalogs for this shoot, urging his muses and models to stand dramatically against bright colors in an infomercial-style format.

Many of the applications, from velvet and suede to snakeskin, leathers, vivid designs, jazzy fonts, and more, harken back to this lively era.

adidas x Gucci is the product of two disparate worlds colliding, resulting in a hybridization of formalwear in which leather heels, suede loafers, and silk scarves are penetrated with sportswear (or, at the very least, more casual) codes.

The same is true for bowling bags made from Gucci’s quality leathers but coated with the Trefoil emblem, as well as shellsuit-style items that combine vivid colors with an even bigger GG-Trefoil monogram. In a nutshell, it aches like the ’70s and ’80s in all the best ways.

The lookbook also features co-branded micro-bags, monogrammed pleated skirts paired with clogs, terry cotton pool slides, a range of jewelry, necessities like T-shirts, and much more.

The adidas x Gucci collection set to release on June 7, 2022. It will be available at select Gucci stores, special pop-ups, online through Gucci’s website, and on the adidas CONFIRMED app, with more to follow.
