Ancuta Sarca‘s persistent approach to combining masculine and feminine design structures has remained a thrill within the realm of fashion, despite the influx of gender fluid styles being brought onto the catwalk.
Sarca powers up the footwear engine for Spring/Summer 2023 by collaborating with Vans for an exclusive collection of reconstructed loafers, personalizing new designs with Vans’ trademark checkerboard print, most notably featured in the “Sk8-hi” and “Slip-on” models.
The highlighted Vans product features an upper body part in electric blue, white, and black with 1980s-style jagged color layering. The shoe’s high collar (made of distinctive Vans wave stripe pattern) evokes the presence of both a wrestling boot and a Mary Jane pump, emphasizing Sarca’s masculine and feminine look.
Moreover, a white-and-red techni-fabric, net-covered clog with signature AS brass hardware resting atop a tongued foot is one of her other racy ideas for the season. Silver vinyl side panel decoration extends toward the back of the clog and onto a thick heel, while silver grommets grace the shoe’s outsole.
A flaming red pair of kitten-heeled lace-ups with a stretch vinyl knee-high component and a padded, wrap-around Nike footbed round out the collection. There is also her use of multi-sized sheer bodysuits (via a collaboration with SKIMS), which she pairs with cushioned leather handbags to create just the perfect amount of raciness.
