Anna Sui Didn’t Get Her Dress Back, So She Reissued It

The velvet frock, which debuted as part of Sui’s Fall/Winter 1998 collection, sparked an online frenzy in March when fashion blogger Casey Jackson, aka @SeekTheFinds, tweeted about a Poshmark listing for the dress.

Sui, by chance, happened to see the tweet and messaged Jackson on Instagram: “Hi this is Anna Sui,” the legendary designer’s DM said. “I saw you sold this already but I was wondering if it would be possible for me to buy it instead? We don’t have this sample and it would mean a lot for me to have it in my archive.”

The dress, however, was not purchased or sold by Jackson; vintage sourcer Ashley Narcisse snagged the ridiculously low-priced collectible, which was listed by California-based Poshmarker @clothed minded1.

Sui has not contacted Narcisse, but the lucky buyer has stated unequivocally that she has no intention of selling the garment.

Sui did not get her dress back, but her defeat has become our victory. To end the saga, the designer announced that the now-legendary gown will be reissued as part of her Resort 2023 collection. That is known as icon behavior!
