ASICS and Ballaholic Present New EX89 Sneaker

ASICS continues to raise the bar. Recently, the footwear behemoth has released a slew of high-profile collaborations, such as the “Aged Map” GEL-LYTE III with atmos, as well as a constant push of new releases that keep you excited for more.

ASICS is now releasing its latest footwear offering, a new iteration of its EX-89 silhouette in collaboration with Ballaholic.

The EX-89 was first seen on the court in 1988, when Kurt Rambis and Michael Cooper wore the low-top Gel-Extreme shoe while playing for the L.A. Lakers. A year later, ASICS released the EX-89 as a high and low-top that was inspired by the original Gel-Extreme, and the latter is making a comeback this year in a sleek cream colorway with grey accents.

Ballaholic was inspired by street basketball, and this new EX-89 is meant to represent the game that is still played by millions of people around the world. The upper is made of leather, and there are finer black details on the tongue, collar, and sole. Furthermore, the midsole has an aged appearance.

The EX-89 is finished with a grey rubber outsole to complete the look. The silhouette’s bottom is also designed with a springy base to withstand the tough surfaces encountered when running up and down the court at high speeds.
