Cardi B’s Stylist Wanted Her Spicy “Up” Visual Style to Be “Hood Yet High Fashion”

It ain’t no Cardi B music video if it ain’t packed with outlandish outfits. The artist puts her trust in Kollin Carter to push boundaries and bold styles each time she releases a new single or hit the red carpet, and her latest visual for her Up Single is no exception.

Kollin called out a specific moment from the music video, where Cardi wears a cone bra and spray-painted sneakers. “This look by @fashionbyreyortiz was special!” Kollin wrote. “We wanted to create a HOOD yet High Fashion moment! We used elements from Jean Paul Gaultier’s iconic 1984 ruched cone boobs mixed with an early 2000’s Juicy couture aesthetic! Remember when sneakers heels were the thing then?”

He included videos and photos of the sneaker creation process as well. “I had the amazing @berkvisual take my favorite @maisonmargiela x @reebok collab and paint some super dope graphics with lyrics from ‘UP’ on them!” Kollin explained. “Topped off the look with velour scrunches in the hair and went overboard with multiple stacked gold @jenniferfisherjewelry bangles. The background dancers were wearing custom ruched @sirbabajagne halter neck, booty short bodies suits, and @reebok sky high sneakers also customized by @berkvisual.”
