Daniel Arsham and Tiffany & Co.’s Drop a $59,000 USD ‘Bronze Eroded Tiffany Padlock’

Daniel Arsham‘s designs for Tiffany & Co. commissions have ranged from killer collectibles to experimental sculptures that must be seen to be believed. It’s no surprise that Arsham was commissioned to create the statue that welcomed visitors to Tiffany’s recent London exhibit.

Arsham and Tiffany have returned for their second official collaboration, devising a clever balancing act that simultaneously straddles the realms of fashion and art, creating a two-piece drop that hits both angles of Arsham’s practice.

Each “Bronze Eroded Tiffany Padlock” sculpture costs $59,000 and requires more than 400 hours of hand-finished burnishing to achieve the desired level of disintegration.

They also come with the second installment of the latest Daniel Arsham x Tiffany & Co. collaboration, which can be purchased separately.

The Arsham Studio x Tiffany & Co. Lock Bangles are a limited edition of the much-touted Tiffany jewelry line that debuted earlier this year.

Arsham’s version is nearly the same as the original, but it substitutes over 93 diamonds and 28 tsavorites for the original’s stones, giving the bracelet a green tinge that alludes to the “Bronze Eroded Tiffany Padlock” sculpture and vice versa.

Both the sculptures and the Arsham Studio Lock Bangles will be available beginning December 1 at select Tiffany & Co. flagship stores. The holidays, when most people are already looking back, provide the ideal setting for Arsham’s reinterpretation of Tiffany’s legacy.
