“We’re talking to David about a new series, Sopranos related,” said Ann Sarnoff, CEO of Studios and Networks

Chase penned the show’s prequel, The Many Saints of Newark, which was released in theaters last month. The film follows a teenage Tony Soprano and his mentor Dickie Moltisanti in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Chase told Deadline last month that any potential spin-off will take place after the events of the film but before the main series, which premieres in 1998.

“There’s only one way that I would do it, and that was if Terry [Winter] and I could write the script together,” Chase told the publication. “That I would do.”

Sarnoff also revealed that the new video has increased viewership for the show. “You see The Sopranos pop into the top ten of the most watched series on the service, and it’s given it an entirely new life,” she told Deadline. “It literally lifted the entire Sopranos franchise in a new direction.” You can’t judge a movie solely by its box office.”
