‘Destiny 2’ Is Nerfing Shatterdive, Other Abilities In Mid-Season Patch

As a new weekend of Trials of Osiris in Destiny 2 began, content developer Datto moved to Twitter to offer a reward to whomever at Bungie would weaken or remove Shatterdive from the game.

What I wasn’t expecting to see was genuine news made here, as Destiny 2’s Sandbox Discipline Lead Kevin Yanes reacted to the tweet, indicating that a nerf, as well as additional nerfs, were on the way:

Shatterdive is a Hunter skill that allows them to throw down a Stasis glacial grenade and instantly crush it for a one-hit kill in a rather large AOE area around it. It has almost no counterplay if done correctly, and this is after several earlier nerfs, such as reducing player damage of Stasis crystal shards. It hasn’t really mattered for this talent.

So Shatterdive will be nerfed again in Destiny 2, as well as “a slew of other abilities.” This will fulfill a prior promise made by Bungie, namely that Crucible PvP would be more centered on gunplay than abilities. We’ve already seen some nerfs in this area, such as to the Icarus dash and, in the past, to the Hunter dodge, though I believe it will be revisited.
