FabMan Creations Presents Aviation-Inspired BMW R nineT

FabMan Creations, a South African custom motorcycle shop, has unveiled the “Storm,” a striking resto-mod based on BMW‘s R nineT motorcycle, a classic roadster built to be as open to customization as possible.

The R9T has seen numerous makeovers over the years due to its modular nature, so delivering a unique take on the two-wheeler presented a unique challenge for Wayne Buys of FabMan Creations.

FMC created a sleek curved aluminum body kit by hand hammering aluminum sheeting to exact specifications over an 8-month build period, drawing inspiration from the aerodynamic forms of WW2-era fighter jets. The exteriors are finished in matte silver paint with minimal FMC branding above the bulbous tank cover and are secured by small Allen head fasteners that resemble the riveted body of ’40s aircraft.

A custom monoposto tail section, headlight shroud, bespoke wheel covers and fenders, a swing-arm cover, a full-length belly pan, one-of-a-kind footpegs, and a series of cylindrical air intakes that resemble plane turbines are among the other design highlights.

The custom cockpit gets a modern upgrade with an Acewell speedometer paired with a digital display and a bespoke stainless steel exhaust system that amplifies the air-cooled twin-cylinder boxer engine.
