Central Saint Martins, a renowned institution, has been a nurturing ground for some of the world’s most successful fashion figures. From visionaries like Alexander McQueen and John Galliano to trailblazers such as Phoebe Philo and Christopher Kane, the school has played a pivotal role in shaping the industry. Last night, the institution bid farewell to over 100 graduates who showcased their final collections, marking an important milestone in their creative journeys.

The runway show, sponsored by L’Oréal Professionnel, brought together celebrated stylists to celebrate hair creativity. Each year, the L’Oréal Professionnel Creative and Young Talent Awards recognize three exceptional designers, with past recipients including Grace Wales Bonner and Richard Quinn.

Central Saint Martins’ Bachelor of Arts 2023 showcase offered a preview of the designs crafted by 134 graduates, spanning the realms of womenswear, menswear, knitwear, and print. Among the talented cohort, three finalists stood out, capturing attention with their remarkable creations. Ivan Delogu secured the third-place spot with designs that harmoniously fused perforated clips with cape-like tunics, structured maxi dresses, and floral variations. Embroidered vases collided with blossoming botanics, while braided ornamentation adorned winged tops and romantic ballgowns, showcasing Delogu’s artistic prowess.

Alba Matamoros claimed the second-place position, captivating the audience with her bulbous ornaments. Spherical collars, coat fastenings, and intricately detailed skirts became her signature, adorning elegant womenswear styles. Her garments, embellished with hair accents, featured pleated bottoms and crochet tops, exuding a sense of refined sophistication.

However, it was Eden Tan who received the highest recognition, earning well-deserved acclaim for their outstanding work. Tan’s creations unveiled a world of leather slip dresses, ribbed suiting, and sweat sets, all crafted from singular fabric poles. Models glided down the runway, carrying lengthy textiles that transformed into slitted denim and slashed T-shirts. The collection showcased a fusion of contemporary designs with nods to heritage, including tartan tops and kilts, capturing the essence of Tan’s unique vision.
