Joe Freshgoods has debuted a new take on the popular New Balance 2002R silhouette as part of the “Conversations Amongst Us” pack, which also includes a pair of new collaborative 550s with a similar cream finish.
Smooth White mesh, suede, and fine-grain leather are used in the upcoming pairs. The 2002R branding on the lateral counter and toe box overlays is glossy cream, with hints of orange on the tongue, seams, and mismatched “Conversations” and “Amongst Us” cutouts on the heel.
Light blue oval tongue tabs and an outline image of two figures conversing appear on the insoles. The white N-ERGY midsoles and semi-translucent orange cushioned outsoles complete the look.
Before the official reveal, Joe Freshgoods teased the inside of the shoebox which reads, “Designed and curated by Joseph Robinson and a team of Black associates at New Balance.” The New Balance team has also put together a “Conversations Amongst Us” campaign video starring Kawhi Leonard as, “a visual representation of an idea I (Joe Freshgoods) had about the dynamic of black men, nonverbal communication and the nonchalant head-nod.”
