First ‘Scream 6’ Teaser Sees Ghostface Terrorizing New York City

Following five films set in the fictional town of Woodsboro, California, the Scream franchise is going to New York City for its sixth edition, as revealed in the impending film’s first official teaser trailer.

Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown, who played characters that survived the last film’s brawl, return to the franchise in the one-minute video. This time, as the crew tries to flee Woodsboro in the past, Ghostface terrorizes the squad aboard a NYC subway train bound for Brooklyn, surrounded by costumed Halloween revelers.

Courteney Cox and Hayden Panettiere, both stars of Scream 4, return. Samara Weaving, Dermot Mulroney, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and more have joined the cast.

Notably, Neve Campbell, who played the series’ major character Sidney Prescott, will not return. In June, the actress said that she was dissatisfied with the offer she received for the sixth picture.

Scream 6 is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who previously directed the fifth chapter. The next film will be written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, who wrote this year’s Scream.

Scream 6 is set to hit theaters on March 10, 2023.
