In the trailer, Alithea (Swinton) meets an imprisoned Djinn (Elba), who offers to grant the intellectual three wishes in exchange for his freedom. Alithea and the Djinn travel through time and develop unexpected feelings for one another in this film based on A.S. Byatt’s 1994 short story The Djinn in the Nightingale’s Eye.

Miller is directing the film, which is based on a script he co-wrote with Augusta Gore and is co-produced by Doug Mitchell. The film, which was first announced in October 2018, has been delayed due to the pandemic, but it will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this year.
