Grand Seiko Drops Ginza Street Map Hi-Beat Limited Edition

Grand Seiko has unveiled a limited edition watch that pays homage to its hometown of Ginza by featuring a street map of the Tokyo district on the dial.

The Grand Seiko Heritage Collection SBGH297 is limited to 260 pieces and features a 9S85 5Hz automatic movement with +5/-3 seconds per day accuracy.

The light blue hue is said to evoke the color of the afternoon sky above the pedestrian district, which is known for its high-end shopping and where the Seiko brand was founded in 1881. Last year, Seiko released its own Ginza tribute watches, a pair of Alpinist watches with dials inspired by the district’s cobblestone streets.

The 40mm stainless steel watch is expected to be released by the end of June, but it will only be available from five Ginza stores and will cost 770,000 yen (roughly $6,000 USD).
