Heritage Fabric and Hand-Sprayed Techniques: Stone Island’s Spring/Summer 2023 Collection

Stone Island‘s Spring/Summer 2023 collection features evolutionary pieces that showcase a unique texture and color, hand-sprayed for a one-of-a-kind three-dimensional effect.

The collection is dominated by the use of Stone Island’s heritage fabric, the Mussola Gommata, which is made by laminating lightweight cotton muslin to a transparent polyurethane film with canvas texture. The fabric is dyed manually by hand spray on the inside, which results in an airbrush effect seen on the outside.

The collection includes adventure-focused jackets, such as a windbreaker-style hooded jacket in grey and light blue color blocking, and a bike jacket in khaki and olive hues with slanting hand pockets and hidden zip fastening. Both jackets feature the Stone Island badge on the left sleeve and tightening snaps at the cuffs.

The collection also includes knitwear, sweatshirts, and t-shirts, all featuring the hand-sprayed technique. The crewneck, for example, is manually sprayed on the back of the inner side, and the dyed garment sees the contrasting tones on the outside. The crewneck also features a ribbed neckline, one chest pocket with a vertical zipper fastening, and a Stone Island badge on the left sleeve.

Keep an eye out for Stone Island’s upcoming Hand-Sprayed SS23 collection.
