Hublot and Bucherer Return to the Blue Period

Bucherer‘s trademark blue is one of the most identifiable hues in the watch business, whether it’s adorning the Swiss watch brand’s unique watches or a motorbike. So seeing Hublot‘s iconic Big Bang Unico in the deep shade is a little startling, but in a good way. Two worlds clash!

Bucherer and Hublot initially collaborated in 2018 to produce a one-of-a-kind Hublot Classic Fusion. This was maybe the pair’s first foray into collaboration, creating the watch in muted bronze and reserving Bucherer’s vivid blue for the watch face.

This time, LVMH-owned Hublot is going all-in with the Big Bang Unico Bucherer BLUE (all-caps, please), which is available on Bucherer’s website for £38,000 (about $51,760) in an exclusive edition of 10 pieces.

Not only has Bucherer Blue completely changed the Big Bang Unico’s appearance, but it has also been outfitted with a slew of innovative and advanced materials.

“This collaboration demonstrates the strength and vision of both brands, by combining different materials: A bezel made of blue sapphire, a titanium case, and transparent blue dial and strap,” said Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe.

The Hublot Big Bang is, in fact, a watch. The Unico Bucherer BLUE is a study in contrasts, with a chunky titanium case juxtaposed against a sapphire bezel — a first for Hublot — skeleton dial, and soft rubber straps, virtually all portrayed in that distinctive shade of blue (or is it BLUE?).
