Hublot is celebrating the opening of its new flagship location in Ginza, Tokyo by collaborating with renowned Japanese fashion designer and master tailor Yohji Yamamoto on an “All Black” GMT watch from its otherworldly Big Bang line.
At the heart of the limited-edition timepiece is the luxury Swiss watchmaker’s proprietary Unico HUB1251 movement. This mechanism makes it possible for wearers to update a second time zone at the push of a button, allowing the local time to be read easily via the conventional main hand of the watch. At-home time is indicated with a separate arrow-shaped hour hand, which integrates a day/night indicator.
Yamamoto is known-for having created “the Shock of Black” avant-garde tailoring aesthetic that previously made waves in the Japanese fashion industry. Accordingly, the model’s micro-blasted ceramic case, hands, dial, and rubber strap are all black. Even the face is cut from a darkened smoked sapphire.
“This watch can easily display the time zones of the two cities where I’m based, Tokyo and Paris,” Yamamoto said of the exclusive watch. “I’m pleased to have taken part in the creation of this model to celebrate the opening of Hublot Boutique in Ginza, a unique, famous and iconic neighborhood of Japan.”
