On March 17, 2022, a pair of adidas x Balenciaga Triple S sneakers surfaced online, causing speculative hysteria, but Sneaker Bar Detroit has now provided images indicating that the collaborative pair may actually be coming.
This isn’t the first time the Triple S has been the centerpiece of a collaboration. Balenciaga and Gucci recently collaborated on the “Hacker Project,” which combined the Triple S’ divisive dad shoe aesthetic with Gucci’s monogram branding. Similarly, adidas has collaborated with other Kering-owned brands, including Gucci, to deliver a full Alessandro Michele-designed Gucci collection for Fall 2022.
Keeping Balenciaga’s love of collaboration in mind — need I remind you of Balenciaga x Crocs, or its collaborations with YEEZY GAP or The Simpsons? — The adidas x Balenciaga Triple S seems to be not just a possibility.
Assuming this is the case, the Triple S will be available in premium white leather with black detailing, with the latter including zig-zag cut Three Stripes on the mid-panel. Balenciaga branding appears in block caps down the mid panels as usual, while a Trefoil appears on the tongue tag and heel tabs alongside more Balenciaga branding, but in adidas’ lowercase font. As expected, sizing adorns the toe, while more Balenciaga branding appears in various fonts on the rubber heel extension and on the underside of the shoe, alongside gray sole unit detailing.
So far, this is the only information available about the sneaker collaboration. Official information from either party has yet to be released, implying that the collaboration is still in the works.
