Despite the fact that he will not be playing basketball again until next season, the 37-year-old athlete has another reason to rejoice: he recently became a billionaire.

LeBron James is the first active NBA player to make Forbes’ billionaires list, according to Forbes. Last year, the Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar earned a whopping $121.2 million USD, propelling him into the eight-figure net worth range.

James has made over $385 million in salary during his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Lakers. Endorsement deals with Nike, AT&T, PepsiCo, and Walmart, as well as lucrative business investments in companies like Blaze Pizza, Lobos Tequila, Liverpool F.C., and others, have netted him upwards of $900 million USD.

In an interview with GQ from 2014, James spoke on the idea of being a billionaire and said, “It’s my biggest milestone, obviously. I want to maximize my business. And if I happen to get it, if I happen to be a billion-dollar athlete, ho. Hip hip hooray! Oh, my God, I’m going to be excited.”
