Leica Unveils Special-Edition Q2 Camera With Singer-Songwriter Seal

Leica has unveiled a new Special-edition Leica Q2 “Dawn” camera set in collaboration with Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, Seal. The partnership draws a connection between Seal’s soulful lyrics and the human connection in the art of photography, “shining light on the subjects of a frame – while painting unique perspectives for artists behind the lens.”

The exteriors of the cameras are covered in a particular weave consisting of black polyester thread and gold-colored washi paper, inspired by the Japanese term “komorebi,” which symbolizes the interplay of light from sunlight penetrating through a tree canopy. The distinctive kimono textiles ensure that each of the 500 cameras is unique.

The handwritten lyrics “you became the light on the dark side of me” from Seal’s popular track “Kiss from a Rose,” adorn the rope straps, and a limited-edition Rag & Bone scarf made by multimedia artist Annina Roescheisen arrives in similar themes.

Other design elements include black Leica emblems, an engraved signature by Seal, and visible edition numbering. The Q2’s technical specifications include a 47.3 megapixel full-format sensor and a fast Leica Summilux 28 f/1.7 ASPH. lens.

The Leica Q2 “Dawn” by Seal is now available for $5,995 USD online and at Leica stores.
