Virgil Abloh‘s posthumous Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2022 show featured a medley of the late designer’s greatest hits, with a strong presence of accessories throughout.

We have seen the Paint Can Bag, and now Louis Vuitton has released the LV Trainer 2, a high-top version of the first sneaker to gain popularity during Abloh’s tenure.

The chunky low-top design of the original LV Trainer, which incorporates house cues all over, is inspired by the world of skateboarding. A high-top sneaker with obvious allusions to the Air Jordan VIII is presented in the second iteration by Louis Vuitton, who is inspired by basketball. This is mainly because of the strap that crosses the tongue of the shoe.

On top of the padded tongue, you will find a unique LV basketball insignia, and in true basketball style, more padding has been added to the collar. The theme is carried over to the heel piece, which has the same basketball logo, and to the medial side, which has a panel of perforated padding.

The LV logo reflects this on the lateral, and additional LV branding can be seen on the tongue. The vamp and the back portion of the multi-piece sole unit are decorated with the floral LV monogram, and tonal Louis Vuitton branding is printed on the tongue straps on both feet.

Since Louis Vuitton has paid meticulous attention to every last detail, stitching just the pair took seven hours. For £1,140 GBP/$1,660 USD, Louis Vuitton’s LV Trainer 2 in black and white is now offered in stores and online.
