Luxury in Monochrome: Saint Laurent’s FW2023 Collection by Anthony Vaccarello

The color black holds a special significance for Saint Laurent – it represents both sophistication and brand identity. However, when a single color dominates each collection, it can be challenging to innovate. But Anthony Vaccarello‘s Fall/Winter 2023 menswear collection for the luxury fashion house manages to do just that, showcasing a range of impeccable garments.

Held at the Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection museum in Paris, the collection was a feast for the senses, evoking a feeling of timeless glamour. Predominantly black, with splashes of white, beige, camel and gray, the collection displayed Vaccarello’s design acumen and the forward-thinking direction of menswear design. Enlarged bows, a staple of women’s clothing, made an appearance on silk tops, while chest-baring silk chiffon tops in shades of black, white and soft beige exuded refinement.

Floor-length overcoats were also a highlight of the collection, featuring ultra-sharp shoulders or relaxed broad lapel detailing, crafted from a variety of materials including wool, cashmere, mohair, smooth leather, and patent leather. Hooded pieces, knitwear tunics with extended necks, and streamlined paneled pants rounded out the collection.

What’s most striking about Vaccarello’s latest offering is its simplicity – a focus on fluidity and clean lines is evident in every garment.
