Every year, New Balance gives its specific lifestyle silhouettes a strong run, and the year 2022 has been no exception for the 990v3.
Between collaborations and general releases, the model has seen a slew of new colorways, the latter of which is set to expand with the addition of this new “Sea Salt” entry. The installment is part of Teddy Santis‘ — founder of Aimé Leon Dore — first official collection as the sportswear label’s creative director.
If you’re familiar with Santis’ design journey, you will know that he favors simple yet striking color palettes, which is exactly what he does on this new iteration. The “Sea Salt” colorway covers the mesh underlays and the majority of the leather overlays, while “Rain Cloud” hits the collars, toe boxes, and N logos in smaller doses.
The textured black tongues, which are paired with red New Balance branding, and the midsoles, which feature a creamy mold towards the back, add a slight hint of a vintage feel, add even more contrast.
