The Lunar New Year celebrations will begin in a few months, and it is customary for various sportswear brands to participate through commemorative footwear releases.

Nike is one brand that consistently honors Chinese culture, and after debuting its “Lunar New Year” Dunks, the Beaverton-based brand is now bringing light to its Air Max TW “Lunar New Year” makeup.

While the majority of the surface area on these CNY sneakers is covered in a pure white hue, it’s the accents and subtle details that bring them to life. Close inspection of the side panels reveals tonal floral patterns and Swoosh logos in the shape of flowers printed across the mesh quarters.

The flower silhouettes are similar to those of flamingo lilies, which represent prosperity in Chinese culture. To add to the festive theme, the Swoosh designers embellish the laces with beads and sprinkle orange and red accents on the toe boxes, lace loops, heels, midsole molds, and treading to represent good fortune.

Although no official release date has been revealed just yet, these are expected to hit Nike, and select retailers in the coming months.
