Pat McGrath Is Launching Naomi Campbell-Approved Skincare

Pat McGrath, the legendary makeup artist, is branching out into skincare with Divine Skin: Rose 001 The Essence, which will be released on April 29.

Essence is a water-based formula with active ingredients that has been championed by the K-beauty market. It preps the skin for the rest of your skincare routine when used after cleansing and toning.

McGrath’s approach to priming consists of two main elements. Rose Biotic, for example, is a proprietary ingredient that harnesses the damascena rose’s power. The flower, which is high in antioxidants and phytonutrients, helps to balance the skin barrier and protect it from free radicals.

HydraSphere 18 is the next product, a moisturizer and plumping emulsion enriched with botanically derived oils and ceramides.

“It’s a cocktail that nourishes, softens, and deeply hydrates,” beauty executive Lynn Emmolo said at a press preview, adding that K-leadership beauty’s in the essence space helped guide the formulation of Rose 001.

“I have a friend who shaves with it,” McGrath herself proclaimed. “You can use it on your body, too.”

Even Naomi Campbell, the famously fair-skinned supermodel, endorses the product. In fact, she uses it right after microneedling and claims it “doesn’t sting at all,”

Pat McGrath Labs, which was founded in 2015, has long dominated the high-end color cosmetics market, thanks to McGrath’s famous gold pigment and iridescent eyeshadows. Color cosmetics, on the other hand, fell out of favor with some shoppers as skincare began to take precedence over makeup, a shift fueled by the pandemic.

While McGrath’s palettes and lipsticks aren’t going away, her foray into face-nourishing products is sure to bring in new customers. The artist even hinted that a full line of skincare would be released in the near future.
