Peter Moore, Designer of Air Jordan 1 and Jumpman Logo Has Passed Away

Peter Moore, the designer of the Air Jordan 1 and the Jumpman logo for adidas, has passed away.

Moore has long been regarded as an industry pioneer, with his designs being worn all over the world and becoming synonymous with sportswear and culture. He was Nike‘s first global creative director during his career, and he was a key figure in the evolution of sneakers. Howard “H” White, vice president of Jordan Brand, said in a statement,

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Peter Moore, an iconic designer, whose legacy will forever be connected to Jordan Brand, and the sneaker culture he helped to create.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the Moore family during this time.”

Moore was the driving force behind the Air Jordan 1s, which debuted in 1985 and is still one of the most sought-after silhouettes in the sneaker world.
On the secondary market, many of the pairs are selling for absurdly high prices, indicating that demand for the shoes is still at an all-time high.

Moore’s importance to Nike can be summed up in D’Wayne Edwards’ words: “There is no Jordan Brand without him.” Moore’s efforts are the foundation of Nike’s ubiquitous branding, according to Ron Dumas, who worked with Moore at Nike.
