Rothy’s and evian collected roughly 72,000 bottles of water from the US Open in New York last September to create a tennis-inspired collection using Rothy’s signature 3d knitting process. The two companies have been at the forefront of sustainability and have pledged to collaborate to develop a solution for diverted garbage.
Both brands have achieved carbon neutral status and have adopted the circular production method, which has resulted in lower carbon emissions at every stage and the implementation of safe practices such as the use of twice-recycled materials, rPET2 packaging, shoe recycling technology, and investments in nature-based carbon reductions for every mile of shipping.
“What Rothy’s is aiming to do is to fill every gap in the journey of a product lifecycle from how it’s sourced, how it’s designed and manufactured, and then eventually how it is broken down and remade,” explained Saskia van Gendt, Rothy’s head of sustainability. “Circularity, in general, symbolizes a product lifecycle — and to achieve it, not only is it about how the materials are used, how you’re producing the longevity of the product, but also about closing the loop by offering recycling and end-of-wear solutions.”
The bottles are broken down into soft washable thread and knitted into pieces ranging from garments to accessories in Rothy’s very own completely factory. The factory enables the brand to regulate costs and seek for methods to reduce waste across the entire operation.
Featuring a mix of white, red, and blue colorways, the limited-edition collection exudes sophistication. They provide a variety of cool, washable footwear, tennis gear, and accessories. The new Slip On Sneaker is reimagined in white with a stripe from heel to toe in eviandistinctive®’s palette for a sporty touch.
The RS01 Sneaker features a flexible upper and icy blue outsoles with grooves for added traction and durability. The Cap is lined with moisture-wicking terry, has pique mesh in the back for ventilation, and is produced from approximately 5 bottles. The Visor is available in white with rose piping and tonal logo accents.
The Racket Bag has an adjustable strap and a front zip pouch for storing small items. The Sling, built of 19 water bottles, has two storage sections and may be worn around the shoulder, hip, or waist. The Duffel Bag has comfortable top handles, a bright lime interior lining, a large main compartment, and two external pockets for water bottles and tennis balls.
The Rothy’s x evian capsule collection will be available for a limited time beginning August 23rd, only at Rothys.com and Rothy’s New York City store locations.
