Saucony’s Pineapple Capsule is an Eco-Friendly Alternative to Leather.

Saucony is taking its environmental efforts to the next level this season with the release of the “Saucony RFG Pack,” an eco-friendly footwear capsule that includes updated versions of the Jazz Court, Shadow 6000, and Jazz 81.

The brand, which recently released a tropical-colored Grid Azura 2000, has made use of nature’s waste by making each sneaker in the “RFG Pack” out of Piatex, a by-product of pineapple farming that has been transformed into a plant-based alternative to leather.

Each upper features Piatex® panels fused together with recycled fabrics, as well as a partially plant-based mesh and hemp laces, giving each style an earthy feel. Each sneaker is finished with a pineapple on the tongue, a nod to Piatexroots, ®’s and comes in shades of “Sage” and “Artichoke.”
