TAG Heuer Unveils Vibrant Monaco Chronographs

Since its debut in 1969, the TAG Heuer Monaco has been a timeless classic cherished by racing enthusiasts and avid collectors. With its distinctive square case and advanced chronograph features, this Swiss icon has adorned the wrists of legends like Joe Siffert and Steve McQueen, who famously sported the Monaco in the iconic film “Le Mans” back in 1971.

Now, in celebration of the 80th Monaco Grand Prix, TAG Heuer expands the revered Monaco range with an exciting unveiling of new vivid chronograph timepieces. These remarkable additions feature a first-of-its-kind skeleton dial within the Monaco collection, seamlessly connecting modern styles with the brand’s rich heritage carried over from the TAG Heuer Carrera series.

The original Monaco prototype captivated the industry with its pioneering case design, striking blue dial, and daring chronograph functions. Equipped with the Calibre 11 movement, it became a trusted companion for those seeking bold and distinctive timepieces. Building on this success, TAG Heuer introduced a new interpretation of the Monaco Chronograph in the 1970s, known as the legendary “Dark Lord,” featuring a matte black case and dial.

Over time, the Monaco timepiece evolved into a cultural symbol, with various reissues and upgrades. The brand’s Vintage series revived the Monaco in 1998, blending classic and contemporary elements. In 2003, TAG Heuer elevated the design further with the precise Calibre 360 movement. Today, the Monaco remains one of the brand’s most revered and recognizable models, often released in exclusive limited-edition variations. To commemorate the Monaco Grand Prix and the enduring legacy of this beloved timepiece, three captivating models have been unveiled.

This significant collection marks the first time TAG Heuer has revealed the inner mechanism of the watch, presenting a modern-day skeleton design available in three captivating dial options: Original Blue, Racing Red, and Turquoise. These cutting-edge aesthetics are tailored to appeal to adventurous watch collectors, paying homage to the brand’s historic models through the use of familiar colors and racing-inspired motifs. The Turquoise skeleton model, reminiscent of Monaco’s vibrant blue coasts, provides a truly standout option.

Powering each of these three new Monaco skeleton watches is the in-house Heuer 02 movement, featuring a conventional column wheel and an impressive 80-hour power reserve—one of the industry’s longest for a chronograph. This exquisite feature is showcased through a transparent sapphire case back. The models also boast a sandblasted titanium Grade 2 39mm case, ensuring durability and resilience for any occasion.

Additional aesthetic highlights include Super-LumiNova® treatment on the indexes and hands, a date window, and an innovative embossed bi-material strap that combines rubber and leather for both flexibility and comfort. These straps are available in striking blue and sleek black options.
