Formula’s Gen3 is the world’s fastest, lightest, and most powerful electric racecar, as well as the most efficient racing car ever, with regenerative braking producing more than 40% of the energy used during a race.

Its electric motors produce 470 BHP at a top speed of over 322 kph (200 mph), and its 600kW ultra-high-speed charging capabilities are nearly twice as powerful as the world’s most advanced commercial chargers, allowing for quick charging during the race. Performance upgrades will be delivered to the car’s advanced operating systems, which are optimized specifically for street racing, via software updates throughout the season.

Gen3 is also the world’s first net-zero carbon race car in the world’s first net-zero carbon sport, as part of Formula E’s sustainability initiatives. Every aspect of the racecar has been reimagined with eco-conscious life cycle thinking at its core, from the natural materials used in the tires to the recycled carbon fiber used in the bodywork.

“Both technologically and environmentally, Gen3 sets new standards in the sport,” says FIA President, Mohammed Ben Sulayem. “The FIA and Formula E development teams have done a superb job, and I thank them for their hard work on this project. I am delighted to see so many leading manufacturers already signed up to the championship’s next era and await Gen3’s competitive debut in Season 9 with great anticipation.”

The Gen3 cars will make their debut in Season 9 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in early 2023.
