Take a Look Inside Balenciaga’s New London Flagship Store

Late last year, Demna defined his vision for a new era of Balenciaga, which included transforming the brand’s retail spaces into brutalist works of art that also function as stores. The new London flagship of the premium house, located on the famous New Bond Street, has now opened its doors.

The new store is designed to “instill a sense of temporality and permanence in the present experience,” similar to Balenciaga’s “Raw Architecture” concept. As a result, the store’s design is purposefully unfinished, with excavated areas visible through glass and concrete dominating the space.

The “Raw Architecture,” on the other hand, doesn’t really feel cold. The industrial lighting system inspired by explosion-proof lamps provides a warm yet clinical glow inside, while floor-to-ceiling windows are met with stainless steel — particularly on the front, where a thick metal door bearing the brand’s moniker can be found on the corner of New Bond Street and Conduit Street — and a thick metal door bearing the brand’s moniker can be found on the corner of New Bond Street and Conduit Street.

Broken concrete, oxidized steel, distressed textiles, stabilized dirt, mud-like encrustations, polished aluminum racks, smooth display vitrines, and integrated LED screens come together to present Balenciaga’s latest goods in a post-apocalyptic atmosphere.

The new space, which spans three floors and covers 710 square meters, houses women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, shoes, bags, accessories, eyewear, jewelry, and objects, as well as the recently released Balenciaga Winter 2022 “360°” collection.
