The New ‘Matrix Resurrections’ Trailer Incites War

Warner Bros. released the second official trailer for The Matrix Resurrections on Monday, which focuses on the return of Keanu Reeves‘ Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss‘ Trinity.

This new visual, like the previous one, combines old footage from the original trilogy with new footage from Resurrections, featuring a slew of action sequences packed with guns, rocket launchers, crashes, kung fu, and more. Though the plot remains unknown, it appears that the plot will revolve around Neo attempting to reunite with Trinity, which should be a difficult task given that both characters presumably died in the final sequences of The Matrix Revolutions.

The trailer also shows Jada Pinkett Smith’s Niobe, who tells Neo, “It’s so easy to forget how much noise the Matrix pumps into your head.” Something else makes similar noises: war.”

Smith did not appear in the original 1999 film, but she did play Niobe in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. In addition, the human rebel played a key role in the franchise’s video game, Enter the Matrix.

The Matrix Resurrections is set to hit theaters and HBO Max on December 22.
