Heritage Auctions recently sold an original HOPE painting by Shepard Fairey for $735,000 USD. The iconic mixed-media work was a symbol of Barack Obama‘s 2008 presidential campaign, and the one sold was one of three originals — another is in the Smithsonian Institution’s National Portrait Gallery’s permanent collection.

Shepard Fairey’s contribution to the final realized total of $2,977,438 USD was part of Heritage Auctions’ Modern & Contemporary Art Signature Auction event.
