Was Drake’s New Album Is Inspired by a Zara Changing Room?

Drake‘s seventh studio album and latest ode to the “two fingers touching” meme, Honestly Nevermind, was released at midnight on June 17.

The album contains the usual one-liners that will dominate cringe Instagram captions for weeks to come — “YOUR PUSSY IS CALLING MY NAME” is a particularly painful standout — but it changes up Drake’s sound for a dance feel that is more “Hotline Bling” than “Way 2 Sexy” (so much the better, really).

The 14-track project, features a single guest appearance from 21 Savage on the closing track “Jimmy Cook’s,” as well as production work from Tay Keith, Gordo, Noah “40” Shebib, and Black Coffee, to name a few, with the latter two also serving as executive producers alongside Drizzy, Oliver El-Khatib, and Noel Cadastre. The Boy surprised fans by announcing the album less than 12 hours before its release, and there were no hints or rumors about the new project on the internet.

HONESTLY, NEVERMIND follows the GRAMMY-nominated Certified Lover Boy, which featured a Damien Hirst-designed album cover depicting 12 pregnant women emojis. The album, which featured Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Giveon, Jay-Z, Travis Scott, Future, Young Thug, Yebba, 21 Savage, Project Pat, Tems, Ty Dolla Sign, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and Kid Cudi, debuted at No. 1 and set the record for the biggest opening week of a 2021 album.
