Kanye West, or “Ye” as he now prefers to be called, is back in the fashion game with YEEZY SEASON 10. The announcement of the casting call for models with shaved heads was quietly made on Ye’s fanpages, which have become his main PR outlet since being banned from Twitter and deleting his own Instagram account.
The April 27 casting call drew a substantial crowd of newly-bald hopefuls to the Los Angeles artist lofts where Ye oversaw the casting, sporting his own freshly-shaved head. There’s little information available about the upcoming collection, but given Ye’s track record, controversy is not unlikely.
Ye’s previous fashion misstep at Paris Fashion Week in late 2022, where he debuted a White Lives Matter T-shirt, caused him to be banished from the high fashion world. Ye’s public image and financial standing took a major hit, with Balenciaga and adidas ending their partnership with his YEEZY brand due to his anti-Semitic outbursts.
Despite laying low since early 2023, Ye is poised to make a comeback with YEEZY SEASON 10. The collection’s aesthetic remains a mystery, but we can expect beige, a staple of the YEEZY brand. Ye’s recent styling of his secret wife, Bianca Censori, in a skin-tight one-piece could hint at the collection’s direction.
One thing is certain: Ye’s YEEZY SEASON 10 will attract massive attention, both positive and negative. Love him or hate him, you can’t deny that Ye knows how to stay in the spotlight.
