Following a buzzy Fall/Winter 2022 show that included a game-changing Gucci x adidas collaboration — Gucci is switching lanes from Exquisite Gucci to Cosmogonie Gucci with its upcoming runway presentation.
Gucci’s Cruise 2022 collection, titled “Cosmogonie,” will be presented live by Alessandro Michele at Italy’s Castel del Monte, a medieval castle commissioned by Emperor Frederick II and known for its strategically and uniquely-designed layout. When it comes to Cosmogonie Gucci, the Italian fashion house only gives us one hint: “the story of creation” which is exactly what cosmogony is all about.
The design of the Castel del Monte is said to provide a unique light and shadow show during celestial events such as the solstice and equinox. The fortress’ eight pillars, which represent the moon’s eight phases, add to the astrological feel.
It is no surprise that Gucci’s Cruise 2022 invitations featured moon phases, emphasizing the event’s date, May 16, when the moon is full. Gucci was not just being playful; the next full moon is on May 16. Gucci Cruise 2022, as a collection, is as mysterious as its cosmological theme and the universe itself.
