Doja Cat received 22 new RIAA certifications on Friday, propelling her to the second-most platinum singles for a female artist, trailing only Nicki Minaj.
Doja’s last two albums, Planet Her (2021) and Hot Pink (2019), were both certified platinum, and her 2018 album Amala was certified gold. The RIAA awarded platinum certification to “Juicy,” “Need To Know,” “Am not Sh*t,” “Streets,” “Rules,” “Get Into It (Yuh),” “Woman,” “Cyber Sex,” “Candy,” “You Right” featuring The Weeknd, “Like That” featuring Gucci Mane, and “Tia Tamera” featuring Rico Nasty. Notably, “Say So” and “Kiss Me More,” both featuring SZA, have now gone platinum five times and four times, respectively.
Doja also received six gold certifications for the following songs: “I Do not Do Drugs,” which featured Ariana Grande, “Freak,” “Amala,” “Bottom Bitch,” “So High,” and “Mooo!”
In a May cover story for Elle, the Grammy-winning artist spoke about her perceived identity as only a pop star and not a rapper, claiming that “real fans” know where she started. “I’ve rapped since the beginning, and I really couldn’t even sing that well to begin with—I got a lot better,” Doja said. “I use my voice as a tool to create these worlds, and it’s fine if people think that I can’t rap.”
