Closet Case, which has over two decades of experience in the fashion industry, opened its doors in the UAE six years ago. Closet Case has four stores worldwide and works with over 50 international labels, including the recently established Rick Owens store in Dubai.
The Rick Owens store, located in The Dubai Mall, one of the world’s largest malls, has the brand’s ethos translated into characteristic architectural components, including the newest pink Prong benches, which are featured for the first time in any Rick Owens store.
Merchandise is placed on geometrically designed metal fixtures with mirror panels, branded “Jungle Gym Fixtures,” as well as a completely mirrored accessory-shelving wall in the center of the store. ”I wanted raw collapsing girders recklessly sketching lines the air with geometric glyphs and hieroglyphics embedded in the floor,” explains Rick Owens, “I have always been drawn to the poignancy of diagrams used as a man’s effort to impose order and meaning to the mysteries and vagaries of life”.
Each wing of the retail space houses a menswear or womenswear area with a fitting room hidden behind a mirror paneled wall, while the label’s characteristic accessories are housed in a simple cabinet with a glass top and interior lights.
“We are a very intimate team trying to make things with a very specific point of view that are timeless, gender-less, region-less and planet-less”, says the designer.
The store carries all of the Maison’s lines and features a carefully curated selection of products including trademark runway pieces, Rick Owens mainlines, DRKSHDW, and the women’s label, Lilies. To round off the assortment, the store will feature the season’s newest collaborative lines, as well as the much-anticipated kid swear line BabyGeo.
