Renowned British photographer Tim Walker captures Tod’s latest ode to Italian artistry through his surrealist lens. As Tod’s continues to pay homage to its rich Italian heritage, it collaborates with Walker to take a fresh perspective on tradition. Walker’s otherworldly approach merges Tod’s signature codes of quality, craftsmanship, and luxury with contemporary mastery.
Playing with proportions, Walker creates striking images that bring the design process of iconic products like the Di Bag and the Gommino to life. Tools meet their maker as phases of creation undergo a hyperrealistic makeover, with models chopped in half with scissors, engulfed by measuring tapes, and stuffed into shoe boxes.
Titled The Art of Craftsmanship, the project was unveiled at Milan Design Week, a fitting home for a collaboration that highlights both Italian know-how and top-tier craft. Speaking on the collaboration, Walker emphasized the value of craftsmanship, especially in an increasingly digital world where so much is created on an industrial scale by machines.
The exhibition runs from April 17th to 22nd at Milan Design Week before embarking on a world tour throughout the year, showcasing Walker’s beautifully skewed sphere and Tod’s commitment to Italian artistry.
