Aēsop Teases New “Eidesis” Fragrance

After launching new Miraceti, Karst, and Erémia scents in its “Othertopias” Eau de Parfums collection last summer, Aēsop now adds another unisex “Eidesis” fragrance to the mix.

The new scent is inspired by the story of Narcissus, a hunter from Thespiae noted for his beauty, and was created in conjunction with long-term partner Barnabé Fillion. He was also known as the god of vanity because he rejected all romantic advances and ended up falling in love with his own reflection, spending the rest of his life staring at his reflection in a pool of water.

The activity is embodied in the ancient literary device of “Eidesis,” the practice of repeating sentences in order to elicit a mental image. The fragrance is described to include watery floral notes with woody hints of vetiver, sandalwood, and cedar.

The 50ml Eidesis perfumes will be available for $195 USD via Aēsop’s website and physical outlets on September 12.
