Barbour and Brompton Bicycle Link Up for a British Cycling Drip

The largest bike manufacturer in the UK, Brompton Bicycle, and heritage lifestyle brand Barbour have teamed together for a second-edition collaboration in a classic British alliance.

This time, the dynamic duo incorporates common British design influences into a selection of jackets, T-shirts, bags, and an entirely new bike.

The line’s outerwear selections are performance-ready with a variety of safety features, including reflective panels and bright textiles that can be hidden for off-bike leisure. They are designed for the archetype of the urban cyclist.

A bespoke fold quilt jacket features a huge patch pocket, ribbed cuffs, and reflective tape, while Barbour’s iconic wax jacket is updated with a removable hood, cooling airflow vents, and mesh panel lining.

“This collaboration is all about merging the themes of practicality, style and innovation,” said Ian Bergin, Director of Menswear and Accessories at Barbour. “The jackets have been carefully designed to include technical features that ensure that the styles look just as good on the bike as they do when it’s time to dismount and hit the city on foot.”

The T-shirts in the line include a slew of illustrations of urban bikers created in collaboration with fashion illustrator Fei Wang. The artist’s work, more commonly known by the moniker Mr. Slowboy, is prominently shown on each design in tones of blue, white, and grey.

The limited-edition Brompton bike is made with a six-gear setup, an all-weather C17 Brooks saddle, and Schwalbe Almotion touring tires. It is formally known as the Barbour x Brompton C Line Explore. Custom serial plates honor notable lighthouses along the North East coast of England’s South Shields, and gold decals contrast the mainly earth-toned appearance.

The collection wraps up with a selection of bags, each of which is made for people who are constantly on the go. The collaboration bike’s front can accommodate a 24-liter holdall as well as a brand-new wax city bag with brass hardware and leather accents.

The collection is now available to shop on Bromptons’ website. Prices range from £46 GBP to £1,895 GBP.
