Returning to the Paris Fashion Week podium with flair, Maria Grazia Chiuri, after last year’s collaboration with artist Elena Bellatoni, unfurled her Fall/Winter 2024 manifesto, a testament to the enduring celebration of womanhood epitomized by Miss Dior.
Originating in 1967 under the creative stewardship of Marc Bohan, Miss Dior was conceived to fulfill Christian Dior‘s vision of adorning women worldwide. Crafted by Philippe Guibourgé, the line boasted affordability, practicality, and a casual charm, aimed squarely at a youthful audience. Chiuri’s contemporary designs pay homage to this legacy, adorned with the youthful spirit of Miss Dior’s iconic imagery, echoing its debut nearly six decades later.
Accompanied by the sultry strains of “Je T’aime Moi Non Plus,” Dior’s latest creations danced around an installation by Indian artist Shakuntala Kulkarni, exploring the multifaceted role of the female form. Khaki-hued suiting staples dominated the runway, from trench coats to double-breasted jackets, blending seamlessly with pleated trousers and sleek skirts. Amidst a neutral backdrop, Miss Dior’s monochromatic motif stole the spotlight, emblazoned across various garments with bold lettering, an unmistakable ode to its heritage.
As the show progressed, Dior’s textile tapestry expanded further, embracing faded denim in tailored outerwear and flared skirts, while vibrant tweeds lent a preppy flair to structured coats and playful skirts.
