Diving into Sustainability: Dior and Parley’s Ocean-Inspired Collection

In 2019, Dior and Parley for the Oceans set sail on a shared mission towards sustainability. Their eco-innovative research project resulted in new yarns and fabrics made from upcycled marine plastic debris and fishing gear, woven in Dior’s Parisian ateliers. Following their first activewear collection last season, FW23 continues to carry the torch for eco-conscious fashion.

Inspired by Christian Dior’s love for nature, this Beachwear Capsule collection delves into the ocean’s depths for inspiration. Each piece is composed of 96% recycled fabrics, marrying comfort with elegance and precise technicality. The subtle neutrals are brought to life with coral and powdery yellow accents, making for the perfect mix-and-match.

Classic motifs, including the Dior Italic and CD Diamond embellishment, elevate beachwear staples like shorts, tees, sweaters, and reversible jackets. Meanwhile, accessories include sleek sunglasses, bucket hats, and the ultimate beach bum’s companion – a Dior surfboard.

Parley’s CEO and founder Cyrill Gutsch commented on the collaboration, saying “Wearing a piece of Dior x Parley is an act of rebellion, it shows that you care dearly. It shows that you want to solve the environmental crisis we are facing, in a creative and optimistic way. Together with Kim Jones and his fantastic team, we have delivered the proof that driving the Material Revolution is not a sacrifice, but answers to a new desire. To protect the oceans, to protect our climate and to protect our future.”
