According to a recent story from The Hollywood Reporter, Gearbox Software’s fan-favorite franchise is slated to make its big screen debut thanks to the Cobra Kai creative team, which includes Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg. Legendary Pictures will also produce, with Marla Studios’ Jean Julien Baronnet, a veteran of video game film adaptations, on board.

Plans for a big-budget Duke Nukem movie initially surfaced four years ago, when Paramount toyed with the idea, wanting to cast John Cena as the title character. Unfortunately, the project never got off the ground, and since no cast members for Legendary’s version have been disclosed, it is feasible that Cena will be interested in reprising the role.

Other details are currently scant, so fans of the legendary video game franchise should keep an eye out for more information.
