Emporio Armani Takes Flight: FW23 Collection Showcases Aviation-Inspired Tailoring and Formality

Emporio Armani kicked off Milan Fashion Week with a bang, showcasing their Fall/Winter 2023 collection that proves the youth-centric sub-label is all grown up. In contrast to their previous collection, “A Basketful of Summer,” which showcased a laidback, beachy vibe, the FW23 collection took a more formal approach, embracing aviation references and tailoring.

Models walked down the runway in exquisitely tailored boiler suits, leather hoods, and pilot goggles, drawing inspiration from the golden age of flying. Puffed leather flight jackets, all-leather trench coats, and double-breasted blazers with popper-strap square shoulders all reinforced the aviation theme.

As the show progressed, formal dinner jackets and nighttime ensembles were revealed, featuring sheer shirts, satin black lapels, and amethyst sequin blazers. These pieces conjured up images of arriving in style, flying private to get there.

Injecting a more youthful edge, the collection also featured the EA 7.0 outerwear line, which included puffer jackets and slick nylon-esque track jackets in a burnt orange hue, printed with vein structures for a unique, crinkled effect.

Overall, Emporio Armani’s FW23 collection showcased a more mature and sophisticated aesthetic, proving that the label can stand alongside its big brother Giorgio Armani when it comes to discerning designs.
