Montblanc celebrates the Lunar New Year with one of its most opulent writing instruments to date. The fountain pen, dubbed The Earthly Dragon, honors one of the most mythical beasts in East Asian culture, the dragon, which represents luck, riches, knowledge, and power.
The instrument is made of Au 750 white gold, with a hand-engraved dragon set with precious stones, and a solid champagne-tone gold cone with a Tsavorite. The gold nib is finely engraved with a motif representing Fu Xi, the dragon’s eighth offspring.
The entire cap top is pure gold and features a Montblanc diamond crown. Montblanc’s Earthly Dragon is limited to eight pieces and costs $168,000 USD.
