Polo Ralph Lauren is back in the spotlight with its “Artist In Residence” program, and this time, they’re teaming up with the talented Navajo weaver Naiomi Glasses for the second installment of their collaboration.
Dubbed “Color in Motion,” this latest collection is a vibrant reflection of Glasses’ weaving journey, showcasing bold color pairings and modern interpretations of Navajo motifs. With a lineup of 24 apparel and accessory items for men, women, and all genders, the collection is adorned with traditional Navajo design elements, featuring eye-catching hues of turquoise, orange, yellow, and red.
What sets this collection apart is Glasses’ passion for skateboarding, a hobby that has been a source of healing and inspiration for her since childhood. Incorporating elements of skate culture, the collection includes pieces like turquoise board trousers, cargo pants, and utilitarian waistpacks.
Continuing their commitment to supporting indigenous artists, the collection also features handcrafted silver and turquoise jewelry pieces from seven Navajo and Hopi artisan families. As Glasses aptly put it, this collaboration not only celebrates indigenous artistry but also opens doors for others in the community.
Set to launch on the Ralph Lauren webstore on March 21st, this collection isn’t just about style; it’s about making a difference. A percentage of proceeds will go towards supporting Native American families through the Phoenix Children’s Foundation Patient and Family Assistance Funds and the Center for Cleft & Craniofacial Care.
