Red Carpet Royalty: The Best Dressed at the Oscars

The night we’ve all been waiting for is not just to see which of the beloved and talented actors, actresses, musical artists and directors has won the most esteemed award of the year. This is such a huge night for designers from all over, both house names and new and upcoming designers, to fight for the loyalty of these celebrities to showcase their work on the red carpet that millions are looking forward to seeing and, at the same time, people like ourselves and other fashionistas alike cannot wait to give our two cents or just fall head over heels in love with them.

This brings us to what this piece is all about but this time we are picking out the best fashion moments that blessed the runway at the 96th Academy Awards. So without further ado, let’s dive right in.

America Ferra In Versace Bling

Donatella didn’t miss dressing the one and only co-star for Barbie, America Ferrera and we can see by the full moment of pink that she was again paying homage to the Barbie film. You can see through America’s past speeches from award shows that she is insanely proud of the film and I think she will continue to show her love for it in many ways.

Versace’s piece for America Ferra was so elegantly done and was very on-brand; the neckline and femininity of the dress were perfect for America and extremely flattering. Plus, the extra bling was the icing on the cake.

Zendaya in Armani Prive Fuseion

Zendaya always seems to get it right every single time; she’s always dressed in the most stunning pieces, and whether we say a big thanks to Armani Prive, her stylist or Zendaya herself, I do not know, but I bow and applaud you all.

The fusion between the textures of satin and rhinestones was tasteful and very well done and others have commented that it’s like a mix of both Barbia and Oppenheimer. I loved the contrast between this pink and black and the draping effect from the shoulder to mold the rest of the dress. I love how she was not wearing any jewellery on the neck because the dress spoke for itself.

Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton Peplum Realness

First and foremost, a huge congratulations to Emma Stone for her second Oscar for the brilliantly done “Poor Things.” Her speech was moving and was a well-deserved win. If you did watch the Oscar, you would know that her dress broke for reasons we are not aware of, so Louis Vuitton almost didn’t make the cut. However, the shape, colour and material of the dress they made for Emma were breathtaking.

She looks flawless and, in a way, is pulling some personality from the film Poor Things, where the costumes should have a lot of pastels and I think Louis Vuitton has pulled some inspiration from this. The colour was stunning next to her complexion and the shape was everything I would want in a dress. The material is fully made out of a thick, quality material so I can understand how and why the zip had a little malfunction.

Carey Mulligan in Balenciaga’s Upside Flower

A moment of silence for this beauty Carey Mulligan is by far one of my favourite actresses ever and she was nominated for best actress for her performance in Maestro. She was involved in many successful films last year, so Balenciaga has signed, sealed and delivered the upside-down flower dress that was a remastered version of a 1951 gown they had made. While being very true to themselves, they’ve come up with this piece that is to die for.

From the full-length black gloves to the shade of black itself, I am obsessed and again, no jewellery is needed; the sweetheart neckline and tule speak for themselves and just need no accompaniment.

Carey Mulligan even went on to say that it was her favourite dress so we might expect to see Carey select Balenciaga again for the 97th Acadamy Awards.

Anya Taylor-Joy in Dior Serving Fish

Another brilliantly done piece from Dior; it’s everything I expected and more. So elegantly done, dripping in diamond from head to toe, we cannot get enough of it, not to mention the scale effect they created from the hips down, giving a fish or mermaid effect to the dress. Anya looked unbelievable in this and I think this dress was made just for her; it complements her features and she became one with the dress.

The more I look at it, the more I can appreciate the detailing and I am obsessed. If only I could pick it up, I’d drive so fast to the nearby city centre car park and make a B-line to Dior.

Greta Lee in Loewe Absolutely Draping

This dress embodied everything elegant that I think comes with Acadamy Awards and she was perfectly dressed for the occasion thanks to the brilliance of Loewe. If I could sit and imagine what I would want to wear for the Oscar, it would be this dress. I love the connectivity of the drapes, from the neckline down to the hips.

I also thought the contrast between the black and bold white was beautiful and gave a James Bond look that I really appreciated.

When it comes to picking the favourite dress for the 96th Academy Awards, it was not an easy choice as there were a lot of magnificent dresses and pieces from small and big designers. We hope you loved our run-through of what stood out to us on the red carpet! We cannot wait to see what everyone is wearing next year!
